Vox Uses Two Highlighters (Most Tutorials Copy One)

Oct 20, 2026

Vox actually use two different highlighters, a clean stroke for digital type and a rough marker for paper, and if you've ever put one on the wrong surface that's probably why yours looks off. In this one I pull a Vox highlight apart into its four layers and then build both versions in After Effects, the clean one on a title card and the rough one on a page from an 1867 gymnastics handbook, and the only thing that changes between them is what's underneath.
